BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Under the general direction of the Finance Director, the Jr. Accountant performs a wide variety of professional and technical accounting duties as assigned. S/he has the ability to work independently with little or no oversight. S/he may train and direct the work of assigned staff.
The incumbent is responsible for Account Reconciliation (i) develop expenditure forecasts (ii) responsible for processing transactions entered into the automated accounting system to include payroll, invoices, vendor payments, client payments, and employee expenses; (iii) reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable, payroll and petty cash accounts as required to identify and report any discrepancies, and make necessary corrections that ensure timely and accurate year end reporting; (iv) maintain and reconcile bank accounts monthly. S/he is also responsible to review revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting entries for accuracy in preparation for reporting; prepare and produce monthly financial reports in a timely manner and as required by the Finance Director; and prepare monthly revenue and expenditure forecasts. Assist in the documentation and implementation of budgetary and accounting policies; maintain the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures; and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelors degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university and at least 2 years of related work experience.
•Experience with non-profit organization preferred
SKILLS and COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles; ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports. Demonstrate knowledge of the Peachtree accounting system; ability to follow confidentiality protocols. Effective verbal and written communication skills; effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel and Word required.
