Youth Violence Prevention
E/BFSC has two initiatives designed to address the issues that promote and facilitate violence among our youth.
- District of Columbia Department of Health. The Community Health Administration has funded E/BFSC to prevent violence among youth, ages 14 – 24 living in PSA 501. E/BFSC has partnered with Sasha Bruce Youthwork and Beacon House to provide engagement and case management services to youth who are: (1) gang/crew involved; (2) truant or experiencing educational challenges; (3) offenders/former offenders; or (4) exposed to violence at school, home or the community
- Ward 6 Coalition for Youth Delinquency Prevention & Intervention. The South Washington/ West of the River Family Strengthening Collaborative and the U.S. Dream Academy partnership funds existing programs or promising practices providing services in Ward 6 to prevent or intervene in youth violence. E/BFSC has implemented a school-based violence prevention strategy at Browne Educational Campus. Specifically, we have developed a peer mediation program, targeting youth living in Ward 6, as part of the 21st Century Learning Center programs at Browne.
